C# on the Mac Marches Up the Hit Parade
The good folks at Apple provide a directory of development tools that you can use to create apps for Mac OS X. (Hey, Scoble, does Microsoft do this for Windows tools developers? If not, why not?)
Anyway, I was amused to see that Mono 1.0 is currently #5 on Apple’s list of popular downloads. The Mac developers love the C#!

Apple is a hardware company and their software portfolio is full of gadgets such as an MP3 player and some clones for *nix products. They don’t take compilers as a serious job (and anyway, no ISV takes Apple compilers’ market bigger than a niche).
Windows benefits from about 20 different compilers (from Cygwin to Metrowerks/Motorola). I don’t think Microsoft should provide a list of concurrent companies’ products. If you want a list of development software for Windows from Microsoft, just go to the Visual Studio homepage.
