Great news, a court struck down the broadcast flag requirement that would have forced TV manufacturers to include digital rights management cruft in all televisions manufactured after July of this year.
We had planned to upgrade some of our home entertainment gadgetry after we buy our next house (more on this soon), but this stupid broadcast flag thing was the thing that was making me feel not-terribly-good about dropping some bank on an HD/flatpanel TV. But if this sticks, maybe daddy will be getting the family some new toys this holiday season…
