Your Constitutional Right to Shout at the Devil

The rock band Mötley Crüe is suing NBC, saying that the network blacklisted them after their lead singer used an expletive on the air. On the Tonight Show, for pete’s sake. This is like pulling up to the Der Wienerschnitzel drive-through and asking if they have anything kosher. You put the Crüe on your television show, of course you’re going to get profanity, duh.

I’m no lawyer guy, but it seems to me like they have a tenuous legal case. However: their attorney is arguing that "a private entity, like a television network, acting under government
pressure, can be liable for damages for violating free-speech rights."

Speaking of the rock, rock group TSAR is playing on Thursday (tomorrow) in SF. We’re counting the days until the release of their long-awaited second album.
