Why My Next CPU Won’t Be From Intel

May 28th, 2005 · 3 Comments · Web/Tech

This is just foul. Show of hands, which customers asked for digital rights management features to be baked into the next CPU they buy? Thought so.

Fortunately, in a year or so when I buy or build my next PC, there are alternatives.

Yikes. I’d read some initial press about the dual core chips, but this was NOT part of the package.

Intel, you got some ’splainin’ to do.

I wonder if this technology is going to be implemented on any existing CPU platforms…

All of this hardware was added to support Microsoft’s NGSCB stuff (Palladium, I believe it was called). Bad news is that AMD is also putting the same stuff in their next gen cpus. So when you build your next PC, don’t be surprised if there is no alternative…
