Microsoft Ajax Roadmap

September 11th, 2006 · No Comments · Web/Tech

Scott Guthrie just posted information about Microsoft’s release plans for their "Atlas" Ajax stack. He also posted the formal name of the product, which will be "Microsoft AJAX Library." Simple, basic, to the point — I like it.

They’re refactoring the product, which I think is a good move, breaking out the client Javascript libraries from the server-side bits and the quasi-open-source toolkit library and giving them separate product identities and names. Excellent.

This is very exciting, especially the part where we won’t have to wait for a complete upgrade to the .NET framework to get a fully-supported Ajax stack.

(We’ve got a dog in this hunt because Approver.com uses Atlas to perform Ajax-style postbacks as well as for some dynamic HTML functionality.)
