Overheard at SFBeta last night:
West German dude: "So, where are you guys from?"
East German dude: [Insert name of obscure town in eastern Germany]
West German dude: "Oh, you’re Ossis!"
Me: Whoa, mein Herr! Isn’t that term a bit pejorative?
West German dude: Oh, not at all!
East German dude: [Looking down at his shoes] Well…actually it is.
I guess you had to be there (or you had to be German) to get it.
