Link: TivoToGo & Multi-Room Viewing Coming in November for Tivo Series3 & TiVoHD
"I know you’ve been anxiously awaiting TiVoToGo and Multi-Room Viewing on your Series3 and TiVoHD boxes.
I wanted to let you know that development has been progressing smoothly, and all is well. You can expect TTG & MRV to be available for Series3 and TiVoHD this November."
It looks like we finally have a reason to buy an HDTV. I guess the final step will be to figure out whether DirecTV HD will play nice with the upgraded Tivo device.
Update: Marc points out in comments that the upgrade that Tivo is talking about here won’t actually work with TivoHD because TivoHD will only let you record HD from cable, and only in the USA. Sucks!

Jeffrey, these devices can only record HD from cable (via a cablecard). So while you can still hook it up to your DirectTV receiver, you won’t be able to record HD content with it.
I should note, though, that you probably have access to a pretty good selection of over-the-air HD channels, which TivoHD can record (with a proper UHF antenna).
Unfortunately for us Canadians, cablecard is not supported AT ALL (nor will it ever be, since there is no government mandate to implement it like the US). Over the air is also very limited here unless you live close enough to the US border to pick up US OTA signals. :)
God, that is so worthless. How did this get so screwed up? There is no way I’m going to buy cable just to get HD.
